A Home Away From Home
We recognize that leaving your pet behind can be stressful, especially if they're ill or recovering from a procedure or surgery. At Smith Animal Hospital, we're here to help ease your worries.
We offer complete general boarding services for all our patients, as well as specialized medical boarding for pets with conditions that standard boarding centers may not be equipped to handle.

Boarding: A Typical Day
Dogs
Every morning, the dogs go outside to our outdoor run for fresh air before breakfast. During their time outside, their kennels are cleaned, disinfected, and refilled with fresh linens.
Depending on their physical condition, we walk the dogs who stay with us on a regular schedule.
Your dog will be supervised at all times during their stay with us, including during walks and rest periods. In the evening, they will be served dinner, followed by a final walk before bedtime.
Cats
Your cat will be fed according to your specifications and their requirements to ensure their routine remains the same as it is at home.
We provide daily one-on-one time with kitties (if they want it!), including play, snuggles, and petting. Litter boxes are checked, cleaned, and disinfected periodically throughout the day.
Additionally, we update linens and clean your cat's room daily. Our feline boarding area is separated from the dog area to ensure your cat feels comfortable and secure during their stay.
Medical Boarding
Your pet will be supervised by our expert veterinarians and nurses, who will administer medications and monitor them closely. Any required medications will be given to your pet on the same schedule they follow at home.

How should I prepare for my pet's stay?
Every animal is unique. To ready your pet for their stay with us, we will follow these steps to address their specific needs.
Step 1: Contact us to get started
Call us to book, and to discuss details about your pet and your boarding needs. A member of our team will be happy to coordinate your booking.
Please note that, due to the nature of our accommodations, we do not accept unaltered dogs. Pets must be up to date with all vaccinations and free of fleas and ticks to stay at our facility.
Step 2: Book a trial stay
We want to ensure we're a good match for your pet before an extended stay. The trial involves a full day of daycare, allowing us to evaluate your pet's temperament and see how well they get along with the group.
Step 3: Set your pet up for success
On the day you drop your pet off with us, there are a few steps you can take to help reduce any stress your pet may feel.
Spend some extra time with your pet beforehand, and make sure they get some vigorous exercise so that they are feeling calm. When you arrive at our facility, stay calm, cheerful and confident during the separation.

What do you feed animals that don't have their own food?
For pets without special diet requirements, we offer high-quality pet food suitable for their size and breed. An extra fee may apply.
